Mr Pejo's Wandering Dolls,
which has created its own mask school, presents an open-air twilight and night performance
for general public of all ages and estates.

Mignone
(fr. mignon — cute,nice, tiny) —
character from
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's novel
«Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre» (1795)

Story:
«…The story of the revaluation of the cultural wealth. The characters deliberately or accidentally break the boundaries between the theatre and the audience. They create situations, which are provocative for both actors and spectators…»
«…Performance in ironical, but not without lyrical inflexions manner. It researches the problems of barriers, which people build around themselves, and searches for the ways of coming over these borders…»
«…Provocative dialogue between the characters and the audience applies to the traditional tricks of the street theatre, cabaret style and the logic of absurd…»
«…Peculiar aesthetic conception of the secluded world…»

Fabula:
A story about a teenager girl. A strange, obstinate, negative creature, that dwells in her secluded and lonely world.
Trying to affect, to find herself Mignone permanently changes not only the masks, but also her shoes – from high hills to army boots. But only in the end, barefoot, she could become herself and stand firmly on her feet.
All her tricks and games are aimed on getting love, friendship and family, but in spite of all that she gets only applause from the audience. She realizes that only devoting she can get what she desires.
She lives in a cupboard – her cage, full of childish recollections, but also full of strange and miraculous characters, creatures of her lonely fantasy.
This is a story of losses and finds, soul and music, happiness and loneliness.
So she breaks her coffin cupboard, her house. She makes a table, throws on it dishes, food (bread, cheese) and makes her own little family with the audience. Brothers, sisters, granny, dad, and a Mom, that brings her a birthday cake.
Only breaking her cage, Mignone can reach the world.

A theatre of carnival culture, masks, grotesque and buffonade was founded in 1993 in Saint-Petersburg. It looks for the inspiration in the authentic Baroque dances, historical art of fighting and Medieval miniatures, and actually in everything. During their interactive performances everyone gets a chance to become a King, a Knight, a Monster or just an intrigued spectator
The actors in their performances charm us with both terrible and beautiful masks, mysterious stories and magic, taken all from the best traditions of European Carnival
Thanks to the high leveled technique of acting and original and unique aesthetics the company has been invited to perform before the ex-president of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the governor of St-Petersburg Valentina Matvienko. Mr Pejo's Wandering Dolls have played on the shows for such persons of high rank as Tony Blair, George Bush, Svetlana Medvedeva etc. The audience of the theatre was also Her Royal Highness Princess of Kent and the sheikh of United Arab Emirates. The theatre participated in Festival of Russian art in Cannes (France) and also in Carnival of Venice (Italy). The company is a permanent participant of the governmental parties and palaces celebrations in St-Petersburg. By their sense of humor and high interactive acting technique the actors of Mr Pejo’s have merit a title of “President’s buffoons”. Nevertheless, they follow their vocation for the Street theatre with its unique diversity and boundless opportunities for the growth of artistic personality and creative explorations. The masks and costumes are made in the workshops of the theatre Pejo’s. Its artistic value was highly appreciated during the exhibitions in the National Gallery, State Museum of Arts “Manezh” in St.-Petersburg, in Chaplin’s Club in Vilnius, on the exhibition during the FETA Festival in Gdansk and many others.

They perfectly interact with the audience, play buffoons. But they hace very serious ideas and concepts in their performances.
